How long-distance dating taught me how to pursue God

For the past 7/7 months, Christian and I have been dating long distance. Not only have I grown with him as my partner and friend, but I learned more about how to pursue my relationship with God through our long-distance pursuit of each other.

Here are some of the ways that overlapped in mine and Christian’s relationship and mine with God (in no particular order):

  1. Even when he feels far, he is always near. Press in. Be present. Love is never far unless you choose to make it far.

  2. Be patient. Love is patient.

  3. Love always hopes.

  4. There’s no relationship without choosing each other and prioritizing time with each other.

  5. Sacrifices are a natural response to love.

  6. Now that I’ve been with you, I never want to be without you.

These things may mean something different to me than they do to you, but lean into the truth of what/Who Love is. We love better when we know Love!
