We went to the highly acclaimed Max Patch for the sunrise. As you can see, we didn’t see it after all. It wasn’t the sun’s fault. He faithfully rises and sets every day at his appointed time. The clouds just covered his glory for a short time. We didn’t know, because if we did, we probably wouldn’t have gone. But isn’t it the going that is the point? The showing up? The sun still rises boldly, whether the clouds cover him or not. The sun knows his purpose. How often do we not show up, because what if it’s not worth it? What if it’s not what we wanted when we get there?
But what if we did show up, faithfully? What if we trusted that God is working, and that even though it would be easy to think He was absent, that we know better?
For the days when just showing up is hard, may we still rise, knowing our purpose. For the days when we meet the fog, may we trust His presence is still there. And may we praise either way.

Verses for post: Ecclesiastes 1:5-6
Poem for post: “Nature’s Submission”, from Henry Beer’s “My Garden of Verse”:
“The sun in its splendor e’er rises to shine,
The moon through the ages the same.
The stars, all unnumbered, reflect His divine,
His great, and omnipotent name.
With heart to distinguish, to love and adore,
What privilege to walk in His ways!
As nature, submissive, I’d be evermore,
As constant I’d be in His praise.”
